Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled Galvanized and Galfan® Sheet Steel
We produce galvanized steel in both hot rolled and cold rolled steel sheet. Galvanized steel is coated with a thin layer of zinc to increase corrosion resistance. We use sheet steel produced by the Flat Roll Division of Steel Dynamics, our parent company, and by several other steelmakers.
At MetalTech we galvanize hot rolled and cold rolled steel in heavier gauges. At GalvTech and NexTech we galvanize only cold rolled steel in medium and thin gauges, respectively. And at GalvTech we have the capability to galvanize medium-gauge steel sheet in extra-wide dimensions—all the way up to 61 inches.
We offer customers several options in chemical and mechanical surface treatments to inhibit oxidation and to improve formability. We also offer regular, medium and extra-smooth spangle (the familiar pattern found on most galvanized steel).
Markets and Applications
The high-quality hot dipped galvanized steel sheet we produce is an essential component in products that must stand the test of time while enduring the elements. Steel is depended upon for its strength and longevity, so it must be protected against corrosion.
On our continuous galvanizing lines, we hot dip coils of steel sheet in zinc to provide that protection against corrosion. We also offer customers several chemical surface treatments that further increase protection against corrosion, and mechanical surface treatments that change properties of the metal to meet other specifications.
Galvanized steel is especially important for products that will be used outdoors and exposed to moisture, such as automobile components and building materials.

Surface Treatments
